Royal wedding and Essex girls

Top of the news agenda
There are two topics gripping the nation at the moment - the Royal Wedding and This is Essex. So it's good to see the News of the World take these on hand in hand with their story: "Essex girl: My night with Harry".

Although the headline is pretty self explanatory, it's about Essex girl Lauren Pope, meeting Prince Harry in 2004 but not taking things any further with him. In her words, she could have been 'the next princess'. Remarkable story.

But what makes it even more remarkable is her subsequent liaisons with John Terry, and rugby players, Danny Cipriani and Danny Care (at the same time). I mean how does that happen? That would be like me having a track record that consisted of the likes of Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Anna Kornikova. Where do you meet these sorts of people? No wonder they made a programme about Essex, the people there have quite an existence

But this story would also be nothing without the quality journalism in the News of the World that never fails to impress me (seriously). If having a heading 'BOOBS' wasn't enough, this quote, without a hint of irony, certainly is: "She recalled: "I was on a sunbed in my lounge when he called."

The politics I know and love
Three party politics is on its way back. And I couldn't be happier, even if it's only in respect to a referendum that very few people seem to be interested in.

At the head of this is Chris Hunhne coming up against Baroness Warsi on the issue. "In a dramatic break from ministerial etiquette, Chris Huhne, the energy secretary, who backs AV, has written to Tory chairman Baroness Warsi - a cabinet colleague and patron of No-to-AV campaign - demanding that she "comes clean" over the source of its funding and stops the "scares and smears" against supporters of change.
